This project demonstrates how to implement the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to create a GitHub code search tool that could be used by AI assistants.

The GitHub Code Explorer using Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a tool designed to facilitate AI models in interacting with GitHub repositories. By leveraging MCP, this tool standardizes the way AI models describe functions, decide on function calls, structure parameters, and return results. The tool allows users to search for code across GitHub repositories, view file contents, and search for repositories. It also includes a function discovery endpoint and an AI assistant simulation interface. The backend is built with Node.js and Express, wrapping the GitHub API, while the frontend simulates an AI assistant using the API. MCP-compatible function definitions are provided using JSON Schema.
