Requirements

  • Claude.ai account (MCP support is available for all account types)
  • Claude Desktop app, available for macOS and Windows
  • uv:
    • macOS via Homebrew
    • Windows via WinGet
  • A code editor like Visual Studio Code

Run MCP server in Claude Desktop

  1. Open claude_desktop_config.js in an editor.
  2. Configure the MCP server in the Claude Desktop settings.
  3. Reboot Claude Desktop and use a prompt that triggers your MCP.

Usage

In Claude Desktop:

  • Request current weather information for a specified location
  • Request a weather forecast for a specified location and time
  • Ask if it's going to rain tomorrow
  • Ask if you need to put on sunscreen if you're going for a walk later
